Abstract:

Drawing on various examples from the history of science and technology, as well as personal anecdotes, this seminar raises questions about the moral dilemmas that working in the fields of science and technology presents to individuals..

Short Bio: 

He graduated from Boğaziçi University in 1997 with a double major in Physics and Mathematics. He completed his PhD in 2003 at Caltech in Theoretical Physics. He spent nine years at the Georgia Tech Research Institute and the Georgia Tech College of Computing, conducting research and teaching in the areas of quantum technologies, machine learning, and geometric mechanics. He then spent approximately seven years in the private sector, first at a machine learning startup in Silicon Valley and later as a researcher at a hedge fund. Since 2020, he has been a faculty member in the Physics Department at Boğaziçi University.
