Academic Program (2008-2019)
The course requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering total a minimum of 139 credit hours of formal coursework. The availability of a wide range and different types of elective courses is a significant advantage, adding flexibility to the program. Students may choose courses in production/manufacturing, operations research, decision and information sciences, and system modelling, ergonomics, financial modelling, energy and socio-economic systems, under the supervision of their advisors. The curriculum is regularly updated to reflect scientific advances as well as changing career requirements.
The new Curriculum below has been approved by the University Senate in May 2010 and applies to those students who have entered the department in academic year 2008-2009 until 2018-2019. For those who have entered the department in academic year 2019-2020 or later, the new curriculum applies.
Course projects, independent projects and finally the senior graduate project are an important part of the undergraduate education, through which students gain research exposure. Selected undergraduate students work with faculty members as assistants in research projects. Students are also required to complete a total of 60 workdays of industrial training during the summer breaks.
